rainy days

not quite sure why on rainy days my body hurts more and I am more fatigued.
I usually try to make sure my day is not busy and I do not do much of anything.Even though I am progressing well with my treatment at fibro and fatigue I still have my crappy days... try hard to have a good attitude.. i guess that makes the difference.. what do you do?

Welcome to our first blog in Conquering Fibro/chronic Fatigue Syndome

Welcome.. and thank you for taking time and  entering the Conquering Fibro blog.  My name is Pam and I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue sydrome.  I was diagnosed a little over 2 yrs ago and symptomatic for about 3 or 4 years prior to that.I invite you to talk, share, tell us your story and ask questions so that we can begin this blog.

My reason for starting this is to try to connect with other men and women who are struggling with this disabling illness.  I was initially surprised and of course discouraged with the diagnosis.  I followed normal procedure, that being referred to a rheumalogosit/internist and started the different prescription meds to see which one of them would be the perfect fit.  For me, the side effects of the more popular ones on  the  market right now were worse than what improvement in pain I received . Like many of you,I read  many books, articles on the internet, and went to a lecture at our local hospital from one of the alternative/medical physicians on staff.

At that lecture I heard all of the same things from many people regarding pain, symptoms, meds, supplements etc.  What stood out and spoke the loudest was that in a group of about 50-60 men and women everyone wanted to say something about their condition and trials.  So much so,that the physician could not complete her lecture because of so many interruptions.  Therefore, answers and support that I and everyone else had been seeking.. we did not receive. I was not the only dissapointed fibromyalgian there. I left that meeting with a strong feeling for the need of a support group of some sort was most certainly needed here, that being Androscoggin-Cumberland County. nbsp; nbsp; In order for me to start something of this type I needed to experiment myself with treatments etc. and educate myself a bit more.
This is the reason why I decided to create a blog to invite others to talk and share in this manner, and grow a group of people to the point where we would have our first real face to face group meeting.

For two years, I had been following The Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Center's growth and new treatments on line.  I signed up for their newsletters and read many blogs from their clients who had a life because of the treatment they received .  There were also clients who were not satisfied with their course of experience and did not promote this type of treatment.  You and I know that with anything in life there is the good, bad, and then.... your decision.

This decision came after trying the newest drug Savella. a nbsp; This is not to tell you Savella did not work.  It certainly helped with pain and sleep, but again the side effects were something I could not live with. Why was I so persistent?  I considered myself still young in age with many more things to conquer, share, do in making a difference. nbsp; Sitting back, not working, popping pain pills , was not my vision for my future with my husband and family.  Gosh darn it, there is more to life and I was not going to settle for less..I am so lucky that my husband agreed.

With my appointment made, my husband and I drove down to the closest location Norwalk,Connecticut. My husband has always been supportive and understanding, even though he had his doubts about this visit.
I WAS feeling better within 30 days... now not cured there is not really a cure... but I WAS feeling better.  It has been four months , and I have been improving in some ways ever since.  So... I have lots to share with you in hopes that you may find yourself seeking better functional health for yourself and your family.
